Hey, there! If you’re like me, you have yet to begin making gifts for the people on your Christmas list. Since Christmas is coming soon, I wanted to share some ideas for handmade Christmas gifts that you could make in no time without breaking the bank!
Here they are:
Approximate time: 30 minutes
The chain choker necklace is an elegant addition to any wardrobe. Just take a piece of chain, attach some jump rings and a clasp, and voila! You have a lovely gift to give to someone.
Approximate time: 2 hours if you make your own tassel, 1 hour if you use a pre-made tassel
The tassel necklace is very easy to make, especially if you purchase pre-made tassels. All you have to do is string the tassel and seed beads onto beading wire, then attach a clasp.
You should be able to make several of these in time for Christmas.
Approximate time: 1 hour if you make your own pom-poms, 30 minutes if you use pre-made pom-poms
Pom-pom earrings are fun, fresh and quirky items to make for your friends. They are lightweight drop earrings that add a festive touch to any holiday outfit.
Approximate time: 30-45 minutes
The wire post earrings are perfect for people who cannot wear dangle earrings. You only need two pieces of sterling silver or 12-karat gold jewelry wire to make a pair. Since it only takes about 30-45 minutes to make these, you could make several pairs in no time.
Approximate time: 3 days for a set of 3
Whether you knit in garter stitch, waffle stitch or seed stitch, a set of dishcloths would be a great gift to anyone. You only need one skein of the main color plus a little bit less for the stripes. If you prefer solid colors, just use one color and skip the stripes. It only takes about a day to knit a dishcloth, so you should be able to complete the set in time for Christmas.
Approximate time: 2 days for a set of 3
A set of scented sachets is a perfect to give as a hostess gift. You could use lavender, rose or any other dried flowers for your insert. Use scrap fabric in different patterns to make the set visually appealing.
Approximate time: 5-6 days (2-3 hours/day)
You just need one skein of yarn to make this trendy scarf. If you knit about a foot per day for a couple of hours, you should be able to complete it in time for Christmas.
Approximate time: 3-5 days
Just two skeins of worsted weight (size 4) yarn makes a fun, funky fringe scarf that looks great with coats and jackets. Substitute cotton yarn with a wool blend yarn to provide extra warmth.
Approximate time: 1 hour
One silver-plated chain link is all that you need to make the silver fringe earrings. Just cut the link into smaller pieces, attach them to a jump ring, and you have a pair of elegant earrings for very little money.
10) Set of Toy Mice
Approximate time: 2-5 days for a set of 6
Don’t forget your feline friends! You only need felt and scrap fabric to make a set of mice. It took me about a day to make one mouse, but if you make all of the inserts in one day, you should be able to finish in time for Christmas.
